Kitten K. Jackson

"If you are looking for an amazing editor, look no further! Kitten not only edits your commas and periods but also analyzes your work for readability and consistency and provides an honest and clear reader perspective."
-- Elaine Barris, author of Master For Tonight, Master For Tonight II, Evangeline, Zane,  Zane -The Decrees, Zane -The Inferno, Devlin's Desire, and Brick.

I know how difficult it is to get your book perfected to the point that you're ready to publish it. Most people just can't do it on their own. I'll admit--it's not easy. But that's where I come in.

Books edited by Kitten @ Kittie Kat Tales Editing:
(chronological order)
** Keeping Secrets by Kitten K. Jackson

** Thread Slivers by Leeland Artra (This was Leeland's first book, which was edited before we met. It has been on the market for over a year. He said, "I loved what you did with the second book," so he had me do a "light" re-edit on it in July, which turned out to be rather extensive. Note: He had me listed as an editor on the book before the re-edit, because I had edited two chapters as a sample.)
** Thread Skein by Leeland Artra (co-edit) -- Platinum
** Cheaters & Broken Hearts by Kitten K. Jackson
** Ember's Curse by Gena D. Lutz -- (This was Gena's first book, and it was edited by someone else before it was published. I did a one-pass re-edit on it.)

ALL packages include the following services:
* Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
* Correct errors in sentence structure and language usage
* Check for inconsistencies
* Insert notifications throughout the document where approval from a third party may be required
* Correct errors in commonly known facts (e.g. changing “George W. Bush, former senator from Texas” to “George W. Bush, former governor of Texas”)
* Check for over-used/repetitive words and phrases

Remember that more passes = more chances to catch errors!

** TWO passes through, which I call the STANDARD PACKAGE, gives you all the services listed above for .009 (9/10 of a cent) per word. Anything over 90,000 words is .011 (1.1 cents) per word.
** THREE passes through, the GOLD PACKAGE, is .013 (1.3 cents) per word. Over 90,000 words is .014 (1.4 cents) per word. With this package, you also get suggestions on how to improve your manuscript, including placement of key scenes and character development.
** FOUR passes, the PLATINUM PACKAGE, is .016 (1.6 cents) per word. Over 90,000 words is .0175 (1.75 cents) per word. This is the most comprehensive package, which includes everything offered in the Gold Package, as well as the editing of your book's descriptions, back of book blurb, and editing/help with the text on the cover of your book. I will also be available to answer any of your questions related to the writing and improvement of your book with this package.
(If I don't know the answer, I'll try to find it for you!)

** ADDITIONAL PASSES -- Same as you paid for previous passes, which depends on your package and your total number of words. Take your total paid on your package and divide it by the number of passes. That gives you the cost per pass.

You probably noticed that I don't have a one-pass 'package.' I normally don't do only one pass on any project. That's because even with the intensive work I do, I would not want anyone to think that what I do in one pass is indicative of my abilities. I feel the same about two passes, but I know that everyone can't afford to pay full price, so I do offer the Standard Package.

You might be thinking this is "too expensive." Keep in mind that it doesn't take long to 'read' a book, but to carefully search for errors and inconsistencies, etc., it takes a LOT of time and focus. It's not easy to do the quality of work I do. You will find others who will 'edit' for less money, but remember that you get what you pay for! Editing is not where you should cut corners. (And because this quality of work takes time, even with my Platinum Package, I make just over minimum wage, and that's BEFORE taxes.)

I'll give a free two-page edit OR you can go to the novels listed above and read their samples to see an example of the quality of my editing.
(Since Leeland Artra also uses another editor, and because Crystal Rister and James Robinson only bought the Standard Package, the books listed by the other authors are more representative of my work.)

** PLEASE use the Narrator program on your computer to read your work to you BEFORE submitting it for editing. The human mind is programmed to fill in the blanks, so catching missed words is one of the hardest things to do, but the ear can hear it. You might also use words repetitively and not realize it, but the Narrator program can help you find them. When I have to identify words that you use repeatedly and replace them with others, it takes a LOT of time, which creates a delay in getting your finished project back to you.

NO EDITOR can guarantee a "perfect" document. I've never read even a traditionally published book I didn't find errors in. As humans, we are imperfect, so even with the Platinum Package, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to catch everything. As mentioned above, the more passes through a file, the better the chances are of catching all the errors. However, if you buy my Platinum Package, and you find an error (not something subjective), I will do another pass for you.

ATTENTION: Authors who have published 'professionally edited' books, I strongly encourage you to have them assessed. I have found COUNTLESS errors in self-published books that were 'professionally edited.' I'm willing to assess your first two chapters free of charge. That's not an edit---just an assessment.

WARNING: There are MANY so-called 'editors' out there who are taking money from unsuspecting authors and doing shoddy work. Before you hire an editor, check their work AND references. Don't be one of those authors who has to live with 'buyer's remorse,' because you tried to save a few bucks. Your book is your baby. I understand that, as I am also an author. Your books are a representation of you to the world---your reputation. They deserve the best care, and I'm the one who can deliver it. If you have any doubts or questions, ask me. Elaine Barris is also willing to answer any questions you might have about working with me.
